Untitled (September 23, 1916)
Struggling to write a poem, I notice again more
patches of grey,
The grief-stricken man of sorrow at last breaks
into a smile.
Sitting in my Zen chair deep into autumn, I adore
the solitude.
Tea steam meets the moonlight, I am fond of quiet
leisure.
In front of the gate dusk colors blank luminous
streams,
Beyond the railing clear skies face jagged sheer
peaks.
One taste of my humble abode is the pure
lifestyle;
The yellow are blossoms blooming, the birds know
to return.
